For many of us, Sunday is Mother’s Day. Emily says it just right here. To those of you who have already endured Mother’s Day, we hope it was gentle on you. We see you. We celebrate you.

brunch and flowers and gifts
hugs all around
what about the moms to children both alive and dead?
no one wants to say anything about the missing babies
like we’re not thinking of them every day, especially this day
all mothers need to be acknowledged and celebrated
mother’s day spent eating breakfast in bed
or trying to raise yourself out of the never-ending darkness
mother’s day spent with family
or trying to force yourself to care
mother’s day oohing and ahhing over handmade gifts
or staring blankly at the wall
i am both sides of this coin of motherhood
and i see you no matter what side you fall on
all mothers need to be acknowledged and celebrated
